The Young Author's Toolbox
(Only Available for Pre-Order)
Awaken the creative writer in your child!
The T.A.G.™ Young Author’s Toolbox was developed for elementary school children by Nina Zaragoza, Ph.D, Professor of Education and founder of Creative Curriculum Connections.
Classroom-based research shows that the T.A.G.™ Writing Method:
- Motivates children to write by allowing them the freedom to choose their own topic.
- Gives young authors a purpose for their writing.
- Provides children with structured methods of receiving positive feedback about their work.
- May help improve your child’s standard achievement test scores.
- TEACHES CHILDREN TO CREATE REAL PUBLISHED BOOKS FROM THEIR STORIES AND BECOME REAL AUTHORS.
The “Work in Progress” notebook helps a young writer in organizing thoughts and writing ideas. It is divided into 7 sections so that they can write 7 books. Each section has:
- “Work in Progress” paper for ideas and drafts of stories;
- A Checklist to help revise and edit work;
- Questions for young writers to ask themselves when deciding what to write.
- 7 book covers for creating real published books!
- Pencils, markers, whiteout and Post-its to use in writing and illustrating work, and decorating book covers;
- 7 invitations for young writers to send to a friend, parent, or other relative so that they can come read the book with the author and PLAY T.A.G.™!
The T.A.G.™ Young Author’s Toolbox also contains a “Family Guide” and would be a great addition to homeschool writing curriculums, young author’s workshops, classroom book making/publishing activities, elementary creative writing or language arts classes.
Reviews:
“Sofia grew tremendously through her involvement in the T.A.G.™ writing program--improving academically, emotionally, and socially. The T.A.G.™ writing program helps children feel confident about being a real author and being part of the larger literate community.”
-Danielle, Educational Psychologist, mother of three; New York
“T.A.G.™ Young Author’s Tool Box inspires us as tutors to implement a strong writing curriculum through reading responses, journaling and publishing. The T.A.G.™ writing program is a conduit to well developed readers, writers and more importantly, learners. By allowing everyone to brainstorm, create a draft, revise and edit each others' work, writing becomes an intricate process in which all the members of a community are involved. The sharing of works that follows provides the community with a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities.”
-Melissa, Create Success After School/Summer Program; New York
“This year, I will be teaching writing to my homeroom. I was really excited when I heard about our school’s "new" program, but what was missing was the TAG methodology. In my view, the outcomes will not be as good for kids. You can bet that I will be introducing T.A.G.™ Young Author’s Tool Box in my own classroom Workshop... and will be angling to get the Language Arts committee to consider implementing it in the district curriculum.”
-Rob, 5th Grade Teacher; New York
